Getting to Temple Bar

Arriving by Air

Dublin International Airport is about 12km north of Temple Bar, and is well serviced by taxis and buses.

Taxi

Getting a taxi from the airport to Temple Bar should cost approximately €18 to €25, depending on traffic and the number of people traveling. The taxi rank is located outside the Arrivals concourse.

Bus

Directly outside the Airport Terminal building, bus services are in operation. These are bus numbers 41/41A/41B/41C, and terminate at Eden Quay. Temple Bar is a 5 minute walk from Eden Quay. Walk over O’Connell Bridge and Temple Bar is on the right.

The 16A which serves Rathfarnham also operates from the airport, and has a bus stop directly opposite Temple Bar, just ask the bus driver to let you know when you are there. Bus services operate from 6am – 11.30pm weekdays, and from 7am – 11.15pm at weekends. The journey takes about 45 minutes. Exact fare is needed for the bus, as change is not given. All of the above bus services are operated by Dublin Bus.

Aircoach

The blue Aircoach runs its luxurious air-conditioned coaches from Dublin Airport to city centre. It stops at Trinity College which is opposite Temple Bar. The service leaves the airport every 15 minutes between 5am and 12midnight, and every hour from midnight to 5am. A return ticket costs €10 and one way cost €6. Up to 2 accompanied children are carried free of charge.

Arriving by Rail

Trains serving all parts of Ireland arrive in Dublin’s two principle railway stations, Heuston station and Connolly station.

Heuston Station

Visitors arriving from the South and West will arrive at Heuston Station. Temple Bar is only a short taxi ride from Heuston Station and should cost approximately €5 to €8 depending on traffic and the number of people traveling. There is a taxi rank located outside, the train station.

A feeder bus runs from Heuston Station passing through the city centre approximately every 10 minutes. When coming from Heuston Station, ask the driver to stop at Bachelors Walk, get off the bus and cross O’Connell Bridge. Temple Bar is on the right.

Connolly Station

Visitors arriving from the North, North West and the South East will arrive at Connolly Station. Temple Bar is only a short taxi ride from Connolly Station and should cost approximately €5 to €8 depending on traffic and the number of people travelling.

A regular feeder bus runs from Connolly Station passing through the city centre approximately every 10 minutes. When coming from Connelly Station, ask the driver to stop the bus at Aston Quay. Get off the bus and walk towards O’Connell Bridge. Temple Bar is on the right.

Arriving by Ferry

Regular, scheduled ferry services operate to Ireland from the UK into Dublin’s two ferry ports, Dublin Port and Dun Laoghaire bringing both foot passengers and cars and other vehicles. Contact:

Dublin Port

Dublin Port is close to Temple Bar, and is served by the local number 53 bus and also by special buses meeting arrivals at the Port.
Adult fare is 95cents
Child fare costs 45cents.

Dun Laoghaire

Dun Laoghaire is six miles south of Temple Bar. The DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transport) train service will take you to the city centre in less than half an hour.
